The Future Is Now for Trial Technology (Law.com)- Topic: wood easel

In terms of a proper case for a computer-powered presentation on the plaintiff’s side, Cardoni noted that cases involving photos showing significant property damages or graphic personal injuries may benefit from the use of computer graphics. On the defense side, automobile accident cases with liability issues may benefit from the use of photographs of the accident scene or photos depicting minimal property damages through a PowerPoint presentation or the Trial Director computer program in an effort to bring the liability defense to life. Cardoni emphasizes that when working with a company such as Exhibit A to prepare a PowerPoint display or computer-generated presentation, the attorney will never have to even touch a computer if he or she does not want to. As a professional courtesy and in an effort to avoid objections, the attorney using a computer presentation may be wise to first attempt to clear with opposing counsel the particular uses of PowerPoint and other computer programs anticipated during the trial. Cardoni reviewed the ways a computer presentation can be used as an effective tool at trial or ADR proceedings to present a client’s case to the jury in a more vivid and memorable fashion. Surely, an attorney utilizing a computer presentation in support of his client’s case will appear to present a more visually compelling case than an attorney who does not.

ROANOKE RAPIDS - The Halifax County Arts Council welcomed members and guests to its new home on Roanoke Avenue Monday evening, with several local artists displaying their work. Several local artists were present for the grand opening, with small collections of their work beautifully displayed in the large gallery area of the new center. On the left side of the gallery were more beautiful works by Arts Council president Jenna Fromal, who because of her duties as president and hostess was unable to spend much time explaining her artistic methods. Council board member Cathy McDonald made a special presentation of a beautifully framed painting to Cathy Dikeman, who was instrumental in reviving the interest in the Halifax Arts Council according to McDonald. WINCHESTER - Long time Winchester portrait artist Mary Jacobs, 84, looks as though she’s forty five, and, as she says herself, acts “as though I’m thirty! A mother of five children — Peg, Barbara, Mary Anne, Richard and Ralph Stone — Jacobs continued to do portraits while raising her family with her late husband Ralph Jacobs. Then friends of Derek Sanderson had Jacobs do a portrait of him, said Jacobs. Jacobs’ late husband Ralph was also a portrait artist, but worked in the business machine business to support his family. Jacobs’ first commission was from a mother who asked Jacobs to make portraits of her two children. Later, Jacobs had shows not only locally but also in Vergennes, Vermont where an influential family had commissioned Jacobs and helped her reputation spread.
