Local officials from Somerset County communities along Route 22 yesterday decried any attempt to locate an off-track betting facility in their towns. An attempt to do so failed in Green Brook earlier this year when the township committee unanimously agreed to reject a proposal to locate one at the Saturn car dealership on the highway west near Warrenville Road. Leonard Lance (R-Hunter don) held a news conference in front of his congressional campaign office in Green Brook with representatives from the township, Bound Brook and North Plainfield on hand in a show of unison on the issue. The New Jersey Sports and Ex position Authority, which put forth the proposal in Green Brook, operates a similar facility in Woodbridge.
